We have a very big heart:

At Up With People Legal we are here to help provide information on different issues involving the Elderly and the Disabled.  We also may not update this website every day, therefore cannot guarantee anything on this website except our freedom of speech; our 1st Amendment right to speak about subjects we wish to speak about.  As seen on our first page in this website, we have no Attorneys on staff.  If you do need to find an Attorney, we provide the Contra Costa County Bar Association's telephone number: (925) 686-6900.  Although we have different locations on our website with information pertaining to laws, you may wish to do your own independent research on what you're searching for.  Thank you.

Beginning your Research:

Getting started in your Legal Research may be something you never thought you'd do; but one day, you have a case you want to bring into Court but have no idea where to begin.  What we've done for you at Up With People Legal, is provided a beginning; a platform where you may chose start; then when you find different research tools on the internet, at your local law library, you may want to do even more research.  This will hopefully answer a few questions to get some of the research to a great start.   Keep in mind we don't update our website everyday, as laws do change frequently, this website is not legal advice, as we aren't Attorneys.

We begin with all the State and Federal research tools that come direct from our Court System.  Because we're in California, we have many tools specific for our State.  Then we're in the '9th Circuit Federal Court District' and we bring in our Northern California District Court websites for ease in helping you begin there as well.

Wishing you the best throughout your case research and giving you that extra beginning to ease some of the work you will have in front of you.  Good luck to everyone!

Law Libraries in California

Sacramento Law Library Link ~ Law Library of Sacramento, California. There's also a 'Chat Area' in case you can't find something on your own, or you may have a question of Law for the Librarian - don't forget to check their hours of operation, as holidays happen, they are closed on different days out of the year.

Law 101 from the Sacramento Law Library ~ The Law Librarians put together this wonderful place to visit if you have questions about law, or you need to get some basics of law.  This is a fantastic source of information.  One thing to always remember when attending the law libraries, it's a very quiet place; many people are concentrating on their own cases.  You may choose a topic to view free information, guides to the Law Library’s resources, authoritative websites on the topic, step-by-step instructions for common procedures, download free forms, and more.

Contra Costa Law Libraries ~ Here you will find information in Self-Help Law subjects, there's so much to learn, and the Law Library is a Public Library.  One thing to always remember when attending the law libraries, it's a very quiet place; many people are concentrating on their own cases.  They have books that they sell when new ones arrive.  The Public may purchase these books at the Martinez location, I'm unaware of the other location in Richmond if they also sell books. Just bring a bag with you, because they have some wonderful choices.

The Law Library of Congress ~ This is a fantastic Legal Research tool that I have used many times.  There's information that leads you to different search engines for various Courts in California, or you can explore throughout the vast subjects.  You may choose to stay on the main website to do other research that in turn, give you information you may utilize for your own case.  Just click this link.

Service of your First Complaint must be completed within a certain length of time: it could be 30-days, 60-days, you must read the laws to learn what to do, but we gave you a good start.  Remember one thing with filing a First Complaint:  The Judge is not your Teacher, she's/he's your 'Decider'.  You must do your work to bring your First Complaint into view so the Judge can see that you mean business; that you are serious with what you're bringing into Court.  Service of your First Complaint has many different issues you must study before you get started.  Here's one section for Serving your First Complaint
